Q&A › Raising children (tarbiyah)

🧒 Raising children (tarbiyah) · #111

How do I teach my child to share and not be greedy with siblings or friends?

Sharing is taught with patience and example, because the urge to possess things is natural in children. Appreciate every time he shares willingly so that it feels good, not forced. Teach him to take turns and wait his turn, and set aside a few personal items he does not have to share so that he feels secure. Involve him in giving charity or donating old toys to those in need. Explain that giving does not diminish, but instead increases love and blessing. Do not force him to share in a way that embarrasses him in front of others. Generous children grow from encouragement, not from having things snatched away. See educating the family.
