The MA in Youth and Young Adult Ministry is a 48-credit degree designed to prepare leaders to disciple youth and young adults. It also equips them to be competent in training others in the lifelong journey of following Jesus and becoming more like Him.
The Youth and Young Adult Ministry (YYAM) MA is designed for individuals who see themselves as engaging in lifelong ministry to youth and young adults. The graduate of the YYAM Concentration will be competent to serve in a variety of vocations such as youth pastor, university/college/academy chaplain, dormitory dean, local church youth leader, conference youth director, and guidance counselor.
This program is available at the Andrews campus (2 years) or in a hybrid delivery format (3 years). The hybrid delivery format is designed for pastors and youth workers who, because of their employment situation, cannot attend campus full-time. Students take seven classes throughout the school year to complete in three years. In each spring semester, students attend intensives on campus for two weeks. Five classes each year are taken in the interactive online format [some synchronous and some asynchronous (see definitions)]. A field practicum can be arranged in the location of the student’s residence. Students are also encouraged to come to campus for graduation.
