What are Major Field Tests?
Seniors in some departments and schools are required to take Major Field Tests to help their faculty determine whether the student is well prepared in that discipline. Departments make the decision whether to require these tests.
Seniors should consult with their advisors and department chairs about the Major Field Tests that may be required in their discipline. To sign up for the test, go to under Senior Testing and look for the test in your discipline.
When results are received by the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, they are forwarded to the department. The department decides how and when to share individual results. The results are usually available 3-4 months after the test was taken. For comparative scores, go to .
