Help Support Doctor of Missiology Students in Time of Crisis

This year, the global health crisis has affected all of us in varied ways. For our DMiss students actively ministering in countries severely impacted by the virus, many may not be able to continue their studies without your financial contribution.

The DMiss program aims to continue supporting both current and future doctoral students by raising funds to aid them financially in their academic pursuit. During the summer of 2020 we started the sixth cohort and now have more than 50 students enrolled in the program. The students come from 26 countries and most of them are engaged in cross-cultural work with people from the world religions.

The majority of our students are active in ministry and are employed by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, but they often work in ministry contexts with considerably low salaries. Moreover, the current COVID-19 health crisis has exacerbated their economic struggles even more, which may result in their inability to afford travel, tuition, and other related costs for the upcoming Summer 2021 classes.

This is where you can step in. With your financial support, we believe that you can make an impact in the lives of our international students who are in this program, especially those who come from economies that make it impossible for them to afford to study at Andrews.

How Your Donations Help

日韩AV offers everyone in the DMiss a 50% tuition scholarship since the doctoral program is cohort based with about 15 students in each cohort. Over the span of five years, our generous donors have helped us to award $50,000 in scholarships per year to approximately 15-20 students each summer. The scholarships range between $1500-2000 per student, depending on the economic situation of their country. In this critical year our students will need your support more than ever before, and we believe that you can help us to alleviate their financial burden.

Make A Tax-Deductible Contribution

We invite you to invest in the lives of people who can be game-changers in their own country as they train others how to better reach Buddhists, Muslims, and Hindus. You can make a tax-deductible donation in two ways

1. You can send a check:

Make out to 日韩AV and have it mailed to: Department of World Mission, 日韩AV, 4145 E. Campus Circle Drive, Berrien Springs, MI 49104

2. You can donate online:

  • Click on “give” on the top bar far right

  • Click on the drop-down menu (Select a fund or type to search) and scroll down to “Ministry Training Program Scholarship.”

The following description should appear: “The Ministry Training Scholarship Fund goes to work right away to provide scholarship assistance to mainly international students taking mission studies. A primary focus of this fund is to help students in the Doctor of Missiology program receive training so they can become trainers helping local people in the 10/40 Window and in the secular West better reach out to those in the world religions of Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and to secular/postmodern peoples. Thank you for partnering with us.” Enter the amount and credit card information.

Thank you for whatever you can do to help us with this challenge.

Stories of Beneficiaries of Scholarships

Here is what our students are saying about the program and your support:

  • “For students coming from Africa where the salary amount is very little, it is hard to pursue our studies without financial help. This donation is really a blood vein to my studies.”
  • "If it were not for the scholarship I received from the DMiss program, I would not have been possible to continue my studies. The pay I receive for a year through my work in the mission is not even fifty percent of the tuition for a cohort. Therefore I believe the Lord is making it happen through the Department of World Mission at Andrews."
  • “It is a sacrifice to stop working for a month to go to the 日韩AV to study. This time off from work goes unpaid… and I have no means to cover those costs without help. However, I assure you that every single sacrifice is worth it if the results are to see people joining the kingdom of God, which will expedite Jesus’ Second Coming.”

Our students are also involved in very practical field research and is seen in their diverse dissertation topics. Here are a list of a few areas of research:

  • A Biblical and Missiological Response to the Fear of Ancestral Spirits among Luhya Christians of Western Kenya
  • Being Maya, being Adventist: A Grounded Theory of Adventism among the K'iche' Maya people of Guatemala
  • Adventist Biblical Perspective vs. Arab Qur'anic Perspective on Five Themes: A Missiological Comparative Study
  • Towards a Biblical and Missiological model of Cross-cultural Contextualization among Migrant Chinese people in Santo Domingo
  • A Cross-Cultural Model for Church Planting Among Rural Hindus in the Southern Caribbean Region

Blessings and thank you for your support and prayers,
