Beyond that, it gives helpful information to the school about the overall class as well as specific students. |
PRELIMINARY SCHOLASTIC APTITUDE TEST (PSAT) Grades 9, 10 & 11 | Strongly Encouraged | $13 Study Resource: Location: AA classrooms, as assigned. Please bring approved calculators and #2 pencils. Scheduled: Anyone who wants to take this test MUST SIGN UP by SEPT. 15 with the AA Guidance Counselor. Test will be on WEDNESDAY, OCT. 15, beginning at 7:45 a.m. The PSAT is a great way to practice for the SAT...and it is also cheaper. Grades 9 & 10 can take it for practice, too. Additionally, the PSAT is required to enter the National Merit Scholarship program which is eligible to juniors. Only the junior year test counts towards this program which can lead to significant monies for college based on scores. |

Student is responsible to complete and mail the registration form by deadlines or to register online at The ACT® test assesses high school students’ general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work. The multiple-choice tests cover four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading and science. The Writing Test, which is optional, measures skill in planning and writing a short essay. The ACT is excellent practice for the MME which all 11th graders must take. Therefore, all freshmen are encouraged to take it at least once prior to the MME in March of their junior year. |

Student is responsible to complete and mail the registration form by deadlines. A non-Saturday letter is required; stop by the AA Guidance Office to get a copy and registration form. Online registration is allowed only if you have previously taken the SAT. Along with the ACT, the SAT Reasoning Test is one of the most widely-used admissions test for colleges. It tests students’ knowledge of subjects that are necessary for college success: reading, writing and mathematics. The SAT assesses the critical thinking skills students need for academic success in college—skills that students learn in high school. |
