Transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy (tDPT)

is designed to provide advanced learning for practicing physical therapists.  The t-DPT student will enhance their skills in medical screening, differential diagnosis, clinical leadership and administration, imaging and laboratory science, therapeutic exercise prescription, education and research.  This degree transitions the clinician to the academic standard of the entry-level DPT graduate and truly trains the clinician to become a direct access practitioner.

Two Delivery Formats:

  • On-campus: Designed for internationally trained physcial therapists, with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in physical therapy from their country of origin. The degree is offered as a full-time on campus program and can be completed in 24 months over five semesters. The curriculum includes clinical education experience in an on-campus clinic and other off-site settings. The graduate leaves the program with the skills necessary to practice as an entry-level DPT in the United States. This program does not guarantee PT licensure, however, we customize your academic plan to ensure you are provided the opportunity to eliminate any common professional deficiencies in your entry-level PT degree as identified by your FCCPT educational credentialing report. The entry point into the t-DPT program is August.

  • Interactive online: Designed for licensed physical therapists in the US or Canada as a part-time, interactive online program to allow you, the working clinician, to gain the additional knowledge necessary to transition them academically to the entry-level DPT. The graduate leaves the program with greater skills in the area of medical screening, differential diagnosis, education and research. Attaining this degree sets the clinician on the path to be a direct access provider.
