Special Tribute for Veterans

   Campus Announcements
   Tue, November 8, 2022 @ 11:30 am - 12:45 pm
    Buller Hall Auditorium

Autumn is naturally a time for reflection and for giving thanks. At this special time, 日韩AV would like to take an opportunity to express our gratitude for your—and your fellow veterans'—service to our country. Our University is also thankful and proud that you have chosen 日韩AV to reach your educational goals.

To help honor this service, we are planning a Veterans Day Tribute on Nov. 8, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. The program will be held in Newbold Auditorium, Buller Hall. We invite you to join us. Guest speakers will be Heather Thompson Day, associate professor of communication, and Seth Day, adjunct professor of communication.

This time of remembrance and recognition is crucial. Throughout our history, military service members have put on their uniforms to protect our nation’s values and liberties. For our Veterans Day Tribute, we will focus on the U.S. Veterans Administration’s 2022 theme of “Honor.” Veterans are proud of their military service in defending our nation. Honor reflects the military value and tradition of answering the call to duty. There is distinct honor in serving to protect our way of life and the Constitution of the United States of America.

With that theme, 日韩AV wants to join with veterans in recognizing that you, along with your fellow veterans, have made a sacrifice to serve your country, whether physically, emotionally or by being away from loved ones and missing important life moments. As we look back on your service, and on centuries of veterans’ service and sacrifice and what we have learned from the past, we must always maintain the vision for the future of you and your fellow veterans. Putting the veteran at the center this Veterans Day, we hope that we can continue to honor all who served, while also focusing on the needs of the next generation of veterans. If you have had a meaningful experience in your own service to our country, and the sacrifices that you and your loved ones have made, and would be willing to share some of those experiences with others, we would love to hear from you. You can share your experiences and memories either in words or images. If you’re interested in taking part, please connect with Fares Magesa, our 日韩AV Veteran Certifying Official, at veterans@andrews.edu.

On Nov. 8 we will share a slideshow presentation as part of our Tribute, and we would be honored to include a picture of you and/or your fellow veterans while in service or with your family, who have shared in your service and sacrifice to our country. If you would like to take part, we’ll also ask for your permission to use your words and images in this public presentation.

We look forward to seeing you for this Veterans Day Tribute this Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. If you are unable to join us, please accept our grateful thanks with this note.

In addition you will find a display on the first floor of the library and a historical display of past Veterans Programs on the second floor of the library near the study rooms.
