Description:
Dr. Fu-Chih Hsu will talk about his experience starting a business in the fields of microbiology and molecular biology in Granger, Indiana. There he provides services to other companies and laboratories but has also developed his own products using grant money from the government through the Small-Busines Innovation Research (SBIR) program, which awards funds up to $250,000 for a Phase I project or $1–2 million for a Phase II project.

Scientific Methods first opened its doors in 2003 when two of Scientific Methods’ original co-founders, Dr. Fu-Chih Hsu, entrepreneur, and fellow scientist James Larkin, formed the company. In 2004, Dr. Rebecca Wong became a board member and continues to be one of the driving forces behind the molecular biology department while overseeing all laboratory operations.
