Jan. 8, 2021

Dear students,

As you prepare for in-person studies this spring semester, I wanted to once again remind you of the spring 2021 testing requirement for all students. If you haven’t had a chance to review my email from earlier this week, let me share those details once again in this letter.

As I wrote earlier this week, we will require all students to complete a COVID-19 test, both if they plan to attend classes in-person on the main campus or are studying remotely but living locally. PLEASE NOTE: You will not be allowed to attend in-person classes scheduled to begin Jan. 19 and other campus activities this spring semester until your COVID-19 test results are received.

to reserve an appointment date and time for your mandatory spring COVID-19 test. Instructions on reserving your appointment can be found here. Please keep in mind that you should align your COVID-19 testing appointment with your class schedule and that remote classes begin on Wednesday, Jan. 13. Appointments should be made no later than noon the day before your desired testing date.

The following are the dates and times when the various student groups will be tested.

  • Residence Hall and Community students
    • Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, from 8:30 a.m.–8 p.m.
  • Residence Hall students
    • Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, from 9:30 a.m.–4 p.m.
  • Residence Hall students
    • Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, from 9:30 a.m.–4 p.m.

Please note these key reminders as you schedule your appointment:

  • If you are a residential domestic undergraduate student, please arrive on campus no more than one day prior to your testing appointment.
  • If you are an international student arriving from an international destination (other than Canada), please arrive at least four days prior to your scheduled testing date. COVID-19 has a four-day incubation period, and we need you to wait for four days after your arrival into the U.S. to be tested.
  • If you are under the age of 18, please have a parent or guardian print and complete the minor medical consent form and carry the form with you to testing.

Students who for medical reasons require an alternative testing method or whose academic/work schedule does not coincide with testing dates/times may request testing accommodations at an alternative testing site. Students will be responsible for the cost of those off-campus tests. To request consideration for a testing accommodation, please complete this .

Even if you have tested positive within 90 days, you must participate in the mandatory testing. Individuals with a second positive result will be assessed differently.

If you encounter any technical difficulties while reserving your appointment or have questions regarding COVID-19 testing, please email covid19@andrews.edu. Thank you for doing your part to help better mitigate risk for the overall safety and well-being of our campus community.

With care,

Frances Faehner
