I was shocked and saddened at the news of Laurie's death. Having seen her last year at our 50th Broadview Acad reunion, deepens my sadness. She played piano so well, and all through academy musical performances she accompanied so well. I did alot of solo work, and discovered she was the best for accompaniment. I roomed with her at AU our freshman year, and enjoyed her sharing French words with me, since she majored in French. We did Yoga exercizes too. She suggested an off campus Art Class in oil painting, which we took together. I decided to major in Art because of Laurie. I sang at her wedding, and reconnected with her at Loma Linda where I completed my degree. She was a rea artist in her heart. Her homemade Christmas cards indicated her unique creativity. I had the pleasure of touring South Africa rooming with Lauren, and got to know her during this time. She was always gracious and funny, and as someone quite a bit younger and still new to the profession, I found her scholarship and contributions within ASDAL to be an inspiration to me as I grew professionally. I always looked forward to seeing her at ASDAL and will miss her work on reference and information literacy. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to know her this past decade or so. I am so sorry to hear of Lauren's death. Last fall I brought my fourth and fifth graders from Ruth Murdoch to the campus for a field trip. Lauren engaged the students in a hands-on book search from looking for a topic on a computer to actually finding the book on a shelf. The careful, thought-through process was so well done. We shared many fun times at ASDAL conferences- walking, talking, laughing and learning together. She made many contributions to ASDAL. Laurie, as I called her...as did my mom...worked with my mom for several years in the library. She was a special person. I was endeared to her by her beautiful smile and wonderful kindness. Lauren was very special to the members of the Michiana Calligraphy Guild in South Bend. She loved art and nature and did a wonderful job combining them. A gentle and caring person I will miss her beautiful smile. She never stopped learning, always eager to participate. Lauren will truly be missed and we are all blessed for having known her. She will be missed, i worked with her briefly in 2017 at JWL library. She ensured tgat was comfortable, explaining everything that i needed to learn there. She treated everyone with courtesy and respect regardless of age and race. I will miss her. Ruth

Lauren will be missed by many. My heart aches to hear of the passing of Lauren. She was the organist and choir director of Holy Yrinity in Niles. I was a member for many years and she directed me and others with her kind loving spirit 芒聺陇茂赂聫 My fondest warmest memory is practicing for The Christmas Eve service and then after Christmas Eve she would place her homemade jams or homemade bread on each seat for Christmas to thank each choir member. In 2007 I roomed with Lauren for nearly a week when the Association of Seventh-day Adventist Librarians had their annual conference at Helderberg College near Cape Town South Africa. I had not know Lauren prior to this conference, and it didn't take long to realize that she was a very wonderful, special lady with a great outlook, wit, and wisdom. Even though our paths only crossed briefly at conferences over the years, Lauren has been a real blessing in my life. She will be missed. Deanna Flores

Lauren was such a special member of the JWL team. She was an excellent educator, whom I remember particularly for her efforts to see that faculty knew how to use library resources in a high technology manner. I remember how she prepared an online manual in 2007 for new off-campus students entering the Masters in International Development (MIDA), to show them how they could use JWL for their graduate projects and research. It was brilliantly done and greatly appreciated by those students. I'm very sad to learn of the loss of Lauren. But grateful to have been her colleague. My prayers go with her family and associates.
