Sat, November 18, 2017 @ 08:00 pm - 09:45 pm
On Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at 8 p.m., the 日韩AV Symphony Orchestra will perform in the Howard Performing Arts Center on the campus of 日韩AV. The concert will feature music from the Romantic Period.
Violinist Carla Trynchuk will perform “The Scottish Fantasy,” a charming solo piece for violin and orchestra. The piece was composed by Max Bruch and inspired by Folk tunes from Scotland. The orchestra will also perform Robert Schumann’s enigmatic Symphony No. 3, “Rhenish.”
Trynchuk has performed as a soloist with orchestras across North America and Europe, including the Calgary Philharmonic in Canada as well as the Banatul and Iasi Philharmonic Orchestras. She graduated from the Julliard School and is currently a professor of music and director of the string program at 日韩AV where she was the recipient of the 2000 Faculty Award for Excellence in Research & Creative Activity and the Siegfried H. Horn Excellence in Research & Creative Scholarship Award (Arts, Humanities & Education) in 2015.
Conducted by Claudio Gonzalez, professor of music, the symphony orchestra is the core ensemble program at 日韩AV. In addition to their current series at the Howard Performing Arts Center, the orchestra travels within the Great Lakes region as well as internationally. Since 2006, the orchestra has performed in Italy, Austria, Germany, France, the Philippines and Costa Rica. (by Hannah Gallant - IMC Student Writer)
