COUNSELING AND TESTING - Staff Therapist/Prevention Coordinator

Position summary

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: As member of the Counseling & Testing Center clinical team, maintains an assigned case load providing individual, couple, and group counseling as well as supervision within licensing parameters and consultations regarding mental health; Available for after-office hours, clinical consultations, and student crisis interventions.  Reports to the Director of Counseling & Testing Center and in consultation with the Director, providse leadership in mental health prevention including faculty/staff trianing as well as initiatives for the student population, with the goal of assisting students in achieving more effective personal, social, educational, and vocational development and adjustment.

Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:



Perform related responsibilities as assigned by supervisor or designee.

 

Supervisory responsibilities

LPC license or license eligible in Michigan. Preference will be given to candidate with clinical supervision endorsement

Qualified to supervise interns and other student groups in the coordination of prevention programs and in the provision of counseling services

Qualifications





 


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Technical competencies

Must be able to create detailed reports according to best practices, navigating the Center database and software systems.

Interpersonal interactions

Must be able to develop professional relationships on a diverse campus and in the community, and be able to comfortably interact with students, faculty, staff, parents, and community providers

Physical demands

Must be able to respond to urgent crisis stiuations that may occurr  durring nontraditional work hours.  Must be able to physically move throughout campus in the delivery of prevention programming. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or listen. The employee frequently is required to use hands or finger to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, or stoop. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work environment

The Counseling & Testing Center is a vibrant mental health agency within a university setting. The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate. There are no particular facility hazards. Occasionally, there are weekend and irregular hours.
