Position summary
Helps ensure an efficient and customer-service oriented atmosphere in the Department of Computing and assists faculty, staff, students, and visitors in whatever ways needed.
Qualifications summary
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; proficiency with computers and technology; experience with Microsoft Office; comfortable interacting on the phone; good written and oral communication skills.
Duties and responsibilities
Daily Duties:
- Answer phone and email correspondence with clients
- Check voicemails and respond appropriately
- Assist faculty, staff, students, and visitors to the Department of Computing with their needs
- Replenishes copier and printer with paper
- Keep the copier room and supply cabinet clean and organized
- Distributes departmental mail, if needed
Periodic Duties:
- Update computer screens in the Department of Computing
- Check bulletin boards to ensure that all posters are approved and old posters are removed
- Update bulletin board in the hallway
- Design posters for Department of Computing events and initiatives
- Organize department Assemblies e other events
Other Duties:
- Rearrange classrooms, labs and other areas
- Copy new semester class schedule for the Department of Computing
- Assist in preparation and execution of employer visits
- Walks documents to the administration building as needed
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Fluency in English required
- Proficiency with computers and technology
- Microsoft Office experience
- Organizational skills
- Scheduling skills
- Dependable/reliable
- Customer service and phone skills
- Ability to handle information of a sensitive nature with confidentiality
- Flexible (ability to change priorities of tasks)
Technical competencies
- Ability to use a copier, printer, telephone, and voicemail system
- Ability to produce professional documents using Microsoft Office Suite or other software (graphic design or layout editing a plus)
- Must be able to maintain, format, and interact with multi-sheet spreadsheets
- Social media marketing skills a plus
Interpersonal interactions
- Strong social skills required for assisting visitors with questions or directing them to the appropriate faculty or staff member
- Regular interaction with faculty and staff in a support role
- Interact with students and help them with questions or concerns and occasionally motivate them to come to Department of Computing event or field trip
Physical demands
- Sitting at a desk/computer for the period of time you are working
- Occasional moving of furniture or boxes
- Must be able to lift upwards of 30 pounds on an occasional basis
Work environment
Typical office environment with limited noise or equipment hazards.
