Position summary
Open Rank tenure-track faculty position in the Department of English with teaching (4/4), service, and scholarship responsibilities beginning July 2024. Entails teaching composition and literature courses each term. The genres and periods of specialization are open, but we are especially interested in candidates who can teach American literature, race and ethnic studies, Children’s and/or YA Literature, and English Education classes, and whose profile allows the candidate to collaborate with other departments on campus. Priority will be given to applications received by November 03; applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Duties and responsibilities
We seek a generalist to teach across our literature and writing curriculum. Genres and periods of specialization are open, but we are especially interested in candidates who teach American literature, race and ethnic studies, digital humanities, media studies, and/or English Education classes. At both levels, we seek a teacher-scholar invested in diversity and inclusion and committed to university service. Assistant Professor candidates should demonstrate a burgeoning research agenda. Associate Professor candidates should demonstrate a solid investment in research. The position carries a load of 12 credit hours per semester distributed across general education classes and courses for the major.

Qualifications
A PhD in English Literature or a closely related field. ABD may appy, but preference will be given to candidates who are close to completion or have already finished their doctoral training.
At the Assistant Professor level, we seek a teacher-scholar who demonstrates a deep commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentorship, an investment in incorporating diversity and inclusion in the classroom, a burgeoning research agenda, and a willingness to engage with both departmental and university-wide service.
At the Associate Professor level, we seek a teacher-scholar who demonstrates an outstanding teaching record and who can bring a solid investment in research and service to the department and its students. This candidate should likewise bring a commitment to diversity and inclusion across these areas of professional experience.
