Position summary

Weekend Announcer (Friday, Saturday/Sabbath, Sunday)

Successful applicant must be able to read and speak English clearly and distinctly, have excellent communication skills, be reliable, able to work weekends and holidays, often with limited supervision, and enjoy interacting with the public. Preference is given to undergraduate applicants with work experience. Experience in radio is not required.

Duties and responsibilities

Reports to General Manager

WAUS relies on Sabbath staffing, given our mandate from ÈÕº«AV to provide Sabbath appropriate, contemplative music and programming. As a live radio station, this requires in-person staffing. Employment is conditional on your availability and willingness to accept shift assignments during Sabbath hours. Duties will be limited to the essentials of live announcing, and necessary documentation. We require no clerical work, no custodial work, no reading of underwriting announcements, and no answering telephones or other correspondence.

To facilitate our students’ ability to participate in weekly worship services, we will rotate the shift assignment during the hour of worship services.

All items listed below are on the clock paid at the hourly rate

Qualifications

On the job training will be provided.

Proficiency must be demonstrated to continue employment.

Successful completion of the AU HR Office Skills Test is required.

Must have reliable transportation.

Must work weekends, and scheduled holidays and breaks.

Technical competencies

Able to read and speak English fluently

Able to read from a computer screen

Have use of hands

Able to operate computers and the mixing console

Able to open and lock entryway doors and studio doors

Lifting not generally required

Interpersonal interactions

WAUS is a public-facing department. Must be comfortable interacting with listeners and other staff members, in person and when taking calls.
